Troubleshooting • RPI5 8GB - reboot gets 8 flashes

Hello All,

I purchased my pi5 a few months ago, and for a while I was using docker to run 5 or 6 containers. I recently started fresh and did:

Code:

sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade
Post completing this I've had quite a few issues, immediately my Pi would not boot back up when using reboot from SSH. It is located upstairs in my office, and I was downstairs. So I go upstairs and its blinking 8xgreen. I held the power button, until it turns red, and then pressed it again at which point it boots up as expected.

After a while I decided to do a fresh install on my SD card...same result after rebooting.

I then wondered if perhaps my SD card is the problem, so I had a USB drive and booted from it...same result.

Most recently before posting this, it was flashing 8 times after a sudo reboot, and I unplugged it, removed the board from the aluminum cooler housing, plugged in and it started flashing 8x again. I held the power button until it went red, and then pressed it once again and it booted as normal.

Is this a known situation people are dealing with?

I'm a linux noob, so getting familiar, any fancy tricks to try may need to be spelled out.

Thanks
