SDK • VSCode debug probe 30 second delay every time

Hi, I am new to this.
Using VSCode set up as per the SDK getting started guide, with a Raspberry Pi Debug Probe. It seems that every time I choose to run/debug, there's a 30 second delay before, I think, the connection to gdb is made.

any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix?
