I recently bought a Raspberry PI Zero 2 w, and have hooked it up via the data port to my PC with a power/data cable. The light is indicating green, and not flashing. I have already installed the micro SD card and formatted it with an OS, from the pi imager, but when I plug it into my PC, nothing happens, as in my computer does not register it at all. Not as an unknown device, not at a missing damaged device, nothing.
I am in a class of about 15 students with the same Pi, or other Pi's, we have all imaged the Pi the same way, and are trying to enable the Headless, wifi over internet way. Everyone else with a NON windows 11 PC has gotten this working. There is one other student in my class who also has windows 11 and has the same issues. This means, at least to me, that in this control group, the error lies somewhere specifically with the how the windows software is interacting.
Troubleshooting so far:
- I have tried 2 different windows computers to see if it was a specific computer issue
- I have tried different cables to see if it was a faulty cable
- Got multiple RNDIS drivers, ones from forums, and ones from the manufacture page.
- I have tried to download an RNDIS driver to my USBs, but that requires it to download to the USB port that currently has the Pi plugged into, which the computer is telling me it's not.
- I have tried adding legacy hardware with the com/ports same as the previous task.
- I have tried adding legacy hardware with the network adapter (pi can sometimes be in that I guess?) same as the previous, previous task.
- I have tried to look into forums, but its all about windows 11
- All software I try to download for the USBs in device manager is for windows 11
- Added 3rd party software to detect USB not working.
- Updated Windows, looked for drivers on windows.
I'm pretty new to this stuff and I am really lost, just looking for some real guidance, thank you.
