I have setup my pi 5 with two external NVMe caddys connected via USB 3.0, using one of these drive to run the PI OS 64-bit lite.
I have stopped using the Pimoroni base as I kept getting reliability problems with, it seems, the pcie cable connection. I am fed up with removing the pi from its case, removing the pimoroni base, resetting the pcie cabel and the reassebling
When I used the Pimoroni base I had no trouble installing and running CasaOS.
Now, when I am using the Pi 5, from the OS on the external drive, CasaOS will not install. I get the error message
Cannot connect to the docker daemon at unix:///var/run/docker.sock, Is the docker daemon not running?
I have seen vagueally similar post but I have not found a solution.
I have an idea that is may be somehow related as to how the external NVMe drive is mounted. All I have done is just plug it in.
I am an experinced Windows user but I am resonably new to all things linux and Pi.
I would appreciate you help
Thank you
