I am trying to sign in to Raspberry Pi Connect for the first time on my Pi. Nothing happens when I select sign in through the GIU, and attempting to sign in through the CLI gives the error: "The Raspberry Pi Connect API returned an error."

Details:
- New Raspberry Pi 5, 8 GByte
- Keyboard, mouse & monitor directly connected to Pi
- OS: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)
- sudo apt update: All packages are up to date.
- sudo apt full-upgrade: 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
- sudo apt install rpi-connect: rpi-connect is already the newest version (2.5.2).
- rpi-connect on: ✓ Raspberry Pi Connect started
- rpi-connect signin: ✗ The Raspberry Pi Connect API returned an error
- rpi-connect doctor:
Screen sharing is supported by this version of rpi-connect
✓ Wayland compositor available
✓ Screen sharing services enabled and active
✗ Communication with Raspberry Pi Connect WebSocket server - Please check your connection to the internet.
✗ Communication with Raspberry Pi Connect API - Please check your connection to the internet.
- Connected to internet (browser works), ping -c 4 8.8.8.8: 4 packets transmitted and received
- Inability to sign in reproduced with Wi-Fi connection, direct wired connection via Cat5e cable, and wireless connection through phone's hotspot.
- Confirmed that the firewall is turned off on my modem.

Any help troubleshooting would be much appreciated.
