Hi folks,

HW: Raspberry Pi 4b 8gb w\ a TP-Link UB500 Bluetooth dongle and Anker Soundcore speaker
OS: Raspberry Pi OS Lite Bookworm Headless

Code:

$ uname -aLinux doomsday 6.12.25+rpt-rpi-v8 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.12.25-1+rpt1 (2025-04-30) aarch64 GNU/Linux
I've updated my eeprom

Code:

$ sudo rpi-eeprom-updateBOOTLOADER: up to date CURRENT: Thu 8 May 15:21:35 UTC 2025 (1746717695) LATEST: Thu 8 May 15:21:35 UTC 2025 (1746717695) RELEASE: default (/usr/lib/firmware/raspberrypi/bootloader-2711/default) Use raspi-config to change the release. VL805_FW: Using bootloader EEPROM VL805: up to date CURRENT: 000138c0 LATEST: 000138c0

I've disabled onboard Bluetooth

Code:

$ grep disable-bt /boot/firmware/config.txt dtoverlay=disable-bt
I've ensured rfkill is not enabled for bluetooth

Code:

$ rfkillID TYPE DEVICE SOFT HARD 0 wlan phy0 blocked unblocked 1 bluetooth hci0 unblocked unblocked
I've run a number of other diagnostic commands

Code:

$ sudo lsusbBus 002 Device 002: ID 0bda:9210 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL9210 M.2 NVME AdapterBus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hubBus 001 Device 003: ID 2357:0604 TP-Link TP-lb+ Bluetooth USB AdapterBus 001 Device 002: ID 2109:3431 VIA Labs, Inc. The problem I am running into is when I try connecting to the speaker using bluetoothctl

Code:

[bluetooth]# connect 08:EB:ED:E9:25:3FAttempting to connect to 08:EB:ED:E9:25:3FFailed to connect: org.bluez.Error.Failed br-connection-profile-unavailable
I should note that I get this same error on a clean install of Ubuntu Server once I get everything installed. I am totally and utterly out of ideas at this moment... so any thoughts/help would be appreciated!
