Raspberry Pi OS • Change terminal that opens for C-A-T (control-alt-T)

Dear forumers,

I can't get this to work although I've tried a lot, grrr... But first the background:

This is on a pi500 with latest rpios, nothing special, I think...

I installed (actually built from source) Alacritty, a nifty terminal emulator. All seems to work but one:

Works:
- start from .desktop file (i.e. there is a proper and working link in the main menu)
- start from other terminal by typing `alacritty` (the binary resides in /usr/local/bin/alacritty)
- use custom configuration stored in ~/.config/alacritty/alacritty.toml
- add icon to launchbar and start from there

Does NOT work:
- start from keyboard shortcut (C-A t) - which is what I have in muscle memory

What I did:

- update-alternatives for x-terminal-emulator (alacritty starts if I type x-terminal-emulator)
- edit file /etc/xdg/openbox/lxde-pi-rc.xml (replace reference to lxterminal by alacritty)
- edit file ~/etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/desktop.conf (replace lxterminal by alacritty)

Alas, nothing helped :-) I feel it must have something to do with the switch to labwc, however I can't find anything...

Can someone help?

Best
.p.
