While the GUI tools in Raspberry Pi OS may be sufficient to get sound working in the majority of cases, they hide what is going on under the hood, or how to diagnose problems when something does not work.
It would be nice to have a detailed description of exactly how sound works on Raspberry Pi OS, and how / where it is configured.
I would like to see sufficient information to be able to start with a 'Lite' installation of RPi OS Bookworm, and to be able to install, configure and get working an I2S audio device entirely using the command line.
