I have posted about my problem in the Beginners forum, but hope I might get a simpler answer here.
I have just bought a Pi 4, 4GB, and have played with it successfully. But, after installing pi-hole and Lyrion Music Server, I can no longer get to the desktop.
To be precise, when connected to a monitor when the Pi is turned on it gives me the rainbow screen, then the Welcome screen, then the screen goes black except for some text messages, then goes completely black. Unfortunately I can't give the content of the messages as the font is very small and they go past very quickly. If I could read them I would report what they said.
I can't see why the installation of those two programs should cause trouble as I have not been running them, but I suppose that could happen. I'm not aware of doing anything else that should stop the desktop appearing (I changed the keyboard layout, but that should not do anything).
I can use Raspberry Pi connect to run a remote shell session with no problem, so the Pi is definitely working but not reaching the full desktop. As far as I can see, the raspi-config file is as it should be.
The suggestion made in the Beginners forum is to start again with a new SD card and install the OS on it. I am sure that will work, and might be the only answer, but given the time and effort needed to get a card, get a card reader, and perform the installation, I am hoping that someone has a simpler solution, perhaps by editing some configuration.
