I have just bought a RPi4 4GB and have been playing with it. Not done much additions, only pi-hole and Lyrion Music Server, both installed but not fully running yet.
Since I rebooted I can't get the desktop, only a shell. In fact, I can't even see the shell on my TV, but I might have missed seeing the prompt. I can get to the shell using Raspberry Pi Connect from my computer but Connect doesn't give the GUI as an option.
I suspect that, from what I can see elsewhere, that a tmpfs file is the issue. df -h reveals a 1.9 GB tmpfs (but only using 2.1 MB) mounted on /dev/shm.
Would that be the issue, or is something else causing the trouble? What can I do to bring the desktop back? I had hoped that because tmpfs appears to be an item in RAM it would be deleted on shutdown. But if that is so, it evidently gets recreated during a restart, as I have shutdown and restarted several times, and get the same tmpfs item each time.
