Seems forcing PCIe to gen3 not possible now?

I did the config.txt trick of setting interface to gen3 but seems to be ignored now? Following does not work as it once did?

dtparam=nvme
dtparam=pciex1_gen=3
```
After reboot NVME SSD is still only at gen2 speed? Pi OS Kernel information...
