The RP235x is an upgrade in many ways: (Just to list a few.)
  • Cortex-M33 ISA
  • 150MHz
  • Trustzone
  • AMP and RISC-V Support/Tinkering
  • 512KB of RAM
  • Improved XIP
  • More GPIO and PIO
  • Working ADC?
  • Actual concurrency support
  • Floating point coprocessors
  • Improved boot loader comms
  • Some security coprocessors
  • Reworked parts of DMA and PIO
  • Eight Interrupt priorities?
  • SIO Doorbells
However most of those are fluff:
  • Memory architecture performance could be lower.
  • Encryption is vulnerable to signature exploits from updates.
  • Little benefit in clocking and power management.
  • Bus management still weak/weaker.
  • Little Endian Registers?
