Automation, sensing and robotics • Submerge temp sensors failing,

Hi,

Hope someone can possibly suggest where I'm going wrong with temp sensors.

I'm building a temperature sensing system for a pond, although it now includes a motioneye based camera system too. Due to the camera, I've step up to a Pi5. I'm also integrating with Home Assistant. The Pi is running a Typescript based restful interface for the data etc. But that's all running great.

I'm having a nightmare with the I2C sensors being in water for a long time. I started with the DS18B20, went through 3 of these before moving onto the SHT20 from Pi Hut https://thepihut.com/products/sht20-i2c ... roof-probe.
The SHT20 has worked great, although like the DS18B20 has now failed. Details on the sensor from the Wiki clearly states

"The sensor won't be damaged even if it is submerged in water for a long time."

My experience is that this isn't true, I'd really appreciate any guidance or recommendations. Am I using the sensor incorrectly? If so is there a better one? It needs to be in water at about 3 to 4ft.
Thanks
