Hello all,
I apologize if this is not the correct forum for this question.
I'm making games using the GPIO of my PI. I'm building the games on breadboards. I have just enough soldering and basic electronics experience to cause trouble.
For my past projects I was able to source ICs that came already mounted to break-out boards allowing me to make connections with connectors rather than soldering. For my next project it's looking like I'll be using a 16 pin IC.
I have never had good luck soldering to those blank, generic PCBs. I'm not sure how to hold the components in place when you flip the board over, how to make a connection to the IC pin, etc.
Most of my connections are to terminals, with the exception of this 1 IC.
I did a quick search for custom PCBs. It looks like $250 for 5 is about what I can expect, but WAY out of my budget.
Worst case scenario I'm willing to just use a breadboard for my final project. But I'm hoping there's a better way.
How do hobbyists utilize an IC off the breadboard, without a blank PCB, and without a custom PCB?
Thank you!
