I know the title is weird, but let me explain. I have an old RPi 3B V1.2. I flash an 8GB micro SD card with the official image of RPi OS, insert the card, power up the Pi, and red LED stays solid red. After a few seconds, the green LED starts intermittently, and I can use the Pi, no problem.
A few moments later, I disconnect power. I power up the Pi again, and this time there's only the red LED. The green LED does not turn on at all. I remove the micro SD card and insert it again, no luck. I leave the Pi as is for a couple mins and power it up again, no luck. I read the boot problems sticky and I think it might be the SD card, so I insert it into my computer, it shows up fine. I try flashing RPi OS again and try powering up the Pi, no luck. At this point I am fairly convinced that my Pi is broken, so I give up.
The next day I power up the Pi, and voila! The green LED comes on! I did nothing except letting it rest for a day. I unplug power and try plugging it back, no luck. No matter what I do, the green LED will not turn on. It doesn't blink at all. No morse code, nothing. I flash the card again, no luck. I just could not get the Pi to boot up. I leave it for another day and try powering it up again, no luck.
I leave it for another day. I try one last time, and it turns on again! I can even connect the HDMI cable to see that RPi OS boots up! At this point I am clueless as to what it might be. Once I disconnect power, I just cannot get it to work again unless I let it rest for a day or two.
I am using the official power supply and I even bought another SD card just in case my old one was corrupted, no luck. The red LED stays solid red. No blinking, no dimming, just stays solid red. The green LED does not blink even once. That being said the broadcom chip does get warm when the green LED stays off. I read in the sticky that the chip should not warm up and if it does it indicates that there is something wrong with the Pi but over the past 3 times the Pi works after resting for a day which is so weird. Any help would be much appreciated!
