Beginners • Wayland Uses Too Much Memory

I installed a new app (Linrad software defined radio) on my Pi, which loads and runs but then everything freezes and not even the mouse will respond to input. I rebooted my Pi 5 (4 GB RAM) and this time I started Task Manager before running my new app. Task Manager said my app was using 18% of the CPU, but Wayland was using over 20%, which seems excessive, and considering Raspberry Pi touted Wayland as the latest and greatest.

Although Linrad on my Pi has been troublesome, CPU use never exceeded 16 to 18 percent and it ran (as I am looking for settings that work) smoothly; my Pi never froze like this. I have to think that Wayland is causing the problems.

What do I do? Wait for Raspberry Pi to fix Wayland or can I revert back to X11? If so, how do I do that?

thanks in advance for any help!
