Android • Issues Running Android on Raspberry Pi 5 – Could It Be a Hardware Fault?

Hey everyone,

I'm running into some serious issues trying to get Android-based OSes to work on my Raspberry Pi 5, and it's been a bit of a frustrating journey. Linux and other non-Android OSes work just fine, but when it comes to Android, it’s been a different story. Here’s a rundown of what's happening:

---

My Setup
- Device: Raspberry Pi 5 8GB RAM (using the official case with fan)
- Power Supply: Official Raspberry Pi 5 adapter (5V/5A)
- SD Cards: Sandisk Extreme and Ultra (both work great with Linux)
- Peripherals: HDMI display, keyboard, mouse

---

What’s Happening
[1.] KonstaKANG Android Build:
- It goes into a boot loop just turns off and on repeatedly. I also tried booting without a display, but it still didn’t work.

[2.] Emteria Android 15.1.0:
- This one boots up, but there’s random display flickering, which makes it pretty much unusable.

[3.] Other Emteria Builds:
- These boot, but I just get a white screen with some small blue glitches. Seems like a UI issue.

[4.] OpenFyde/FydeOS:
- These aren’t strictly Android, but they do include Android components, which is why I’m including them here. However, I don’t know much about these OSes. They all fail to boot completely, showing the same behavior as the KonstaKANG build. I tried booting without a display too, but no luck.

[5.] Linux & Other OSes:
- These work without any issues at all no flickering, no boot loops, nothing.

---

What I’ve Tried
- Reflashing multiple times with different tools (Balena Etcher, Pi Imager, etc.).
- Tried different SD cards (Sandisk Extreme and Ultra).
- Ran with a minimal setup just Pi, power, and no display on the ones that didn’t boot.
- Followed all the official guides for each OS.

---

My Questions
1. Has anyone else run into similar issues with Android (or Android-based OSes) on the Raspberry Pi 5?
2. Do you think these problems could point to a hardware fault, even though Linux runs fine?

Right now, I don't have a UART cable to capture boot logs, but if nothing works out, I'll get one to try to troubleshoot further.

Any advice or insight would be really appreciated! I’m starting to wonder if my device is faulty, but it’s hard to tell since Linux works fine. Thanks in advance for any help!
