Beginners • Dimming external screen via code

Hello all,

So, is there some code that can be written to dim a NON Pi display screen via the HDMI output when a GPIO pin is set high? The code would dim the screen by set amount as this is for an automotive application and a set amount of brightness level should be all that's required.
