Raspberry Pi Connect • Pi Connect slow to recognise ISP's forced IP change every 6 hours

Hi,

I have some Pi instances (5) in a second home, and 3 of these are setup with rpi-connect or rpi-connect-lite. The internet connection is via a teltonika rut950 modem/router using a SIM card (4G with CGNAT)

I have also installed tailscale on all these machines and the Pi4 also has a Remote. It instance allowing ssh.

Every 6 hours my ISP (Asda via Vodafone) forces a disconnect and my modem immediately gets a new external IP address

When this happens, any ongoing connection is obviously lost but the recovery time of the three services differs significantly.

At my main site I see that
  • The Remote. It recovers almost instantly and I can ssh all remote machines.
    The tailscale recovers in minutes.
On the Pi Connect devices page, the three remote devices are not shown available for an extended period, sometimes over an hour
Is there any way for me to detect this loss of rpi-connect connectivity on the remote Pi and force a refresh such that recovery is faster?

Richard
