Beginners • raspberry Pi as printer server

Hello,

I found this thread in the forum (viewtopic.php?t=79676&sid=0b9d3307725a3 ... 3&start=25) and it is pretty much exactly what I am trying to do. Even down to the same printer (HP CP1215)

Unfortunately I am not able to reply and ask a question there or contact Bosse_B. Didn't find a message function, maybe because I am new to the forum.

Here is where I am:

Raspberry Pi Zero WH connected with a ETH/USB HAT (3xUSB2.0 port and a Ethernet Port)
OS installed, Internet Setup, Putty Setup with xming to connect from my Win10 to the Raspberry.
All great.

Printer plugged into USB port. does not get recognized (lsusb does not list printer)
Plugging in a USD thumb Drive - lsusb lists the thumbdrive

Basically my printer is not recognized. I tried it with 2 different USB printer cables without success. Image may be NSFW.

Reading through the thread I think I need a powered USB for the printer. But I wonder if the HAT is not already powered enough? And if I need a powered USB, how would I exactly go about connecting the printer to the raspberry through the powered USB? Image may be NSFW.

I believe once I have the printer listed with lsusb I should be able to figure out the rest.

Many thanks for your help.

Cheers
