My system configuration:
Raspberry Pi 4b
OS is bookworm with updates
Wayland backend, Wayfair window manager
Desktop appearance:
Fill screen with image
Picture: temple.jpg (provided by install)
Shortcuts on desktop are Trash and a symbolic link to a MAS folder
Physical configuration:
Raspberry Pi is running 24/7. HDMI video goes into a 3 to 1 switch (TV, DVD, Pi) connected to my monitor. Everything is great EXCEPT. . .
Sometimes, when i HDMI switch from TV to Pi the desktop has lost configuration. Background image is now fisherman.jpg (install default I think) and Trash and link are not on the screen. If I reboot, the correct screen environment is restored.
Issues I have encountered because of this:
1) File Manager does not launch. Not from the taskbar, not from the menu option. Terminal will open, word processor will open, web browser will open.
2) Trash and symbolic link are not accessible. I can access both via command line
3) When the mouse cursor is moved over the desktop, the cursor arrow changes to something else and mouse click does not work. Right click options are not displayed. I can open Appearance Settings (same as desktop preferences) via the menu. The desktop picture I selected is still listed. I can open the selection window to change the picture, but it will not change. I cannot make any changes to the appearance settings.
To add confusion, I recently enabled Raspberry Pi connect. If I connect remotely while the raspberry pi is displayed on my monitor, the remote connection displays the selected background image. If I connect remotely and the tv is displayed on my monitor, the fisherman image is the background.
Any help is appreciated.
