It was twelve years ago today, that I first posted to this forum. I would like to say thank you to everyone involved in the Raspberry Pi and many of the long standing members of this forum.
I have twelve Raspberry Pi's ranging from my very first Model B, and up to a Pi 5. So, on average one a year. I have learnt a lot over these twelve years and I have thoroughly enjoyed to journey.
I originally was interested in the Raspberry Pi, so that I could have a standalone Linux computer to use. The Raspberry Pi has been that and so much more.
Over the years I have:
I would like to call out a few people in particular.
Firstly, thanks to Eben and Liz for starting this going. I would also like to thank Jamesh for the time and effort he has spent helping people on this forum. Then there is 6by9, whose in depth knowledge has been very helpful over the years.
I am sure I have missed many people in that list ... Perhaps I will put those names down in 2035, when we are all looking to buy a Pi 10

Over the years I have:
- Become overly invested in the DispmanX API
- Learnt low level frame buffer programming, GPIO, I2C, SPI, Modbus, and more.
- Written some Raspberry Pi related code. Some of this ended up in the Arctic code vault.
- Been involved in industrial projects using the Raspberry Pi.
- Helped a few people.
- Been helped by a lot of people.
