General discussion • Raspberry Pi 5 boot process

Hello,

I am trying to understand how rpi5 boots, found documentation page where every raspberry board collected even though that rpi5 seems to have slightly different process due to the loader in EEPROM. Is it documented somewhere like first stage and so on what CPU core 0 does when it's powered up and how it goes from stage to stage. I am OK to hear that there is no such documents just dig through github source codes, but don't want to miss if there is the document.

I connected X1009 SATA controller from Geekworm and it works fine in PCIe gen3 mode. Now I am looking if I can boot the system from a hard drive. just to keep it simple without any SD card or additional drives. I have found that booting from NVMe behind PCIe bridge doesn't work and I think I don't have any easy solution for the moment. I'd appreciate any words of wisdom and experience in this matter.

Thank you.
