I am investigating this issue and want to know if anybody else is able to replicate it. I have encountered it using the imager on both windows and ubuntu.
Steps to replicate:
- Use the raspberry pi imager to create an image with a customized keyboard setting.
My settings:
Raspberry pi 4
Bookworm 64-bit
Keyboard: us
- start typing special characters like @, |, or ~. The characters typed will incorrectly correspond to the UK layout rather than what was set during the image configuration.
Steps to fix:
- open preferences > raspberry pi configuration > localisation > keyboard
- for me, keyboard layout and variant appear as English (US) despite the UK keyboard behavior. To fix the problem, reapply the layout setting by changing the layout to another country, pressing ok, then changing it back to the desired layout. A dialog box appears briefly when the setting is being applied. Something about this isn't getting applied when the image is originally created.
While this is an easy fix in the GUI, I want to be able to fix this automatically with a script. Does anybody know what raspberry pi os is doing when the keyboard layout is being applied, and if there is a way to trigger it?
