I use an M.2 hat drive with my RPi 5 and boot from it, which has been working fine. However, 2 days ago, I removed the hat drive to change the thermal pad on the active cooler. After reinstalling it, I couldn't boot from it. I kept getting this error "PCIe timeout:0x0001e08f" when trying to boot from the nvme drive. I tried removing and reinstalling it multiple times, but it didn't help. I also experimented with different settings like 'dtparam=nvme', 'dtparam=pciex1_gen=2', 'dtparam=pciex1_gen=3', and 'PCIE_PROBE=1', and updated the EEPROM.
I can still boot from the SD card, but when I check using 'lspci' and 'lsblk', the nvme drive isn't listed.
I'm not sure what the problem is. Could my RPi 5 be faulty? Is there a problem with the FPC connection between the RPi and the M.2 hat? Maybe the hat drive itself is faulty, or it's possible the nvme SSD is malfunctioning.
Anyone encounter the same problem
